Living With PVD
[It is official. I am experiencing PVD. For those of you who are unfamiliar, post vacation depression is a very real and debilitating condition. While it is not fatal, those who suffer from it often wish it was.]
As I return to my abandoned blog, as well as reality, I am finding it harder than expected to jump back into motion. It is kind of like the water up in New Hampshire on Hampton Beach. It was so frigid that I couldn’t do anything other than slowly ease myself in to each new wave. Even then, with each step deeper I was getting slapped with a little more of the arctic liquid than I anticipated.
I worked pretty feverishly on some projects before I jumped ship (which I am hoping to have word on soon), so the disconnect I enjoyed and carefree role I assumed in Boston were quite liberating. Alas, it is time to soldier on. I will be working on a series of posts featuring the parts of my trip that were (in my mind) the most significant. I’ll also be walking around confusing people by saying things like, “that’s wicked, y’all”.

Omg – I hear you. I’m back in the states now after all my Europe adventures (which I too have neglected for several weeks and have to catch up on!) It’s tough. Real. tough.
Glad you made it back in one piece. Maybe we should start a support group :(. TAA – travel addicts anonymous
Yes!! Definitely needed! =)
Hang in there, cutie! You’ll bounce back!
Thanks for that! I hope so!
was boston a nice place? my daughter is going to boston university in the fall.
Sounds like a smart girl. Boston was beautiful from the air to the architecture. The people, however, were a different breed than I am used to. Not all in a bad way, just very strange to see. I have always heard about cultural differences. It was interesting to actually experience them.
All in all, I loved it and am counting the days until I can go back and do all the things I didn’t quite have time for this trip.
PVD is a horrible horrible thing. Especially when hopping from hot , tropical , sunny to cold , cloudy , miserable. Philippines vacation time back to Shanghai working time in February is brutal!
Ouch! Glad I am not the only one. I did sort of the opposite. Went from perfect non humid gorgeous cool air back to scorching temperatures and ridiculous humidity. Sigh. Thanks for reading!
no problem , haha thanks for being interesting. The problem with Philippines to Shanghai is going from non-humid warm air , to super humid freezing cold air . Insta-sickness and misery. Plus going back to work. I like your situation better haha.
Well, I always say it is better to be too cold, as you can always add layers and bundle up. If it is too hot, there is only so much you can take off ;)!
Hahaha , a very good point indeed. I have seen old guys walking only in underwear in Shanghai. That has scared me for life.
Nothing like indecent exposure! Woo!
