Hello and welcome to 25toFly version 2.0. It is finally 2013, which not only marks a new year for clean slates but also my second year in blogging. It also marks the year in which I originally planned to move away from Louisiana. Thinking back upon the birth of my blog, I started to realize how much it has evolved over my first year. What began as an inspirational blog about moving away, quickly became a humor blog on everything from travel and frogs to the sexual encounters of my dear friend Mr. OB.
How I have evolved has also changed over the course of that year. My goals are different. I am different. What I concluded from all of this was that writing this blog was what I needed more than a uHaul. I just didn’t know it at first. I don’t know where I will end up by this time next year. I haven’t ruled out a move, but the urgency for moving away that I felt at the beginning of 2012 has subsided. Just like the many blog posts here that began without the slightest idea or outline, I know I will figure it out. And it will be good. Just keep doing.
Now that my blogging induced awakening has been shared, I can get back to what I have come to love to do here: write stuff that I think is funny and hope you think it is funny too. Here are some updates for the new year.
1. Don’t forget: my new article over at TheIndieChicks goes live on Friday morning. They have also launched their new IC Community which is snazzy. Eat that Facebook.
2. Someone interviewed me today. I can now confirm that interviews are mad fun. You will have the exclusive opportunity to read the results of that mad fun at some point this month, so be on the lookout.
3. I know you all showed up to the big imaginary New Year’s Eve party, but in case you drank too much and hypothetically blacked out, La La and I will be recapping the night in a follow-up blog post coming soon.
4. Over the holiday I worked with a generous friend of mine who agreed to help me with a concept and photo shoot for a new blog banner. I wanted to premiere the 2013 25toFly banner today, but unfortunately brilliance takes time. So I have a placeholder there for the moment, as you can very well see.
For those of you who aren’t friends with me on my personal Facebook page or haven’t liked the 25tofly Facebook page yet, I included the unedited teaser shot of the photo-banner idea at the beginning of this post. There are even a couple of 25toFly easter eggs in there. But more importantly, like me on Facebook. Hurry, I need to confirm my worth via approval of strangers.

“Just keep doing.” was this what you meant? or did you mean “just keep going”? or “doing it”?
It is correct the way it is. Just keep doing.
ok. my reading inability.
2013: The Year of Becca!
Enjoy the ride, cutie…
Thanks Hook. You are coming along with me.
Great! I never get to go anywhere…
Hooray!
I’ve liked you on facebook. What else can I do to help stroke your ego, my lovely? 😉
Come here. I’d like to hug you now.
I would love to be able to facilitate that but I have a feeling that it might be less than simple to get a plane ticket to get to you, and then there’s the whole getting-into-the-US-since-9/11 thing, and, well, I dress like a nun. Some smart so-and-so is going to assume I’m in fancy dress.
But should I ever get to the USA, I’m so going to take you up on that.
It does seem like quite a journey for just a hug. I would at least have to hug you and cook you dinner for all of that trouble.
Sounds good to me. Just promise you won’t hold your breath as I have no idea when I might be able to make it to the USA especially now I’m at OHP. Have to get permission for holidays (obviously) and then I’d have to hope and pray for the money for the plane fare!
I wouldn’t do that. Virtual hugs will suffice ;).
Virtual ones are nearly as good as the real thing. Positives to virtual hugs: You get them anywhere, even when you’re alone. It doesn’t matter if you’ve just been to the gym or working in the garden and need a shower. It doesn’t matter if you have bed hair, or morning breath. No-one has a sense of smell in a virtual world! 😉
Sending you a big warm fleecy and fluffy virtual hug! Xxx
Yes ma’am. Exactly.
Happy new blogging year, Becca! And yes, I liked your Facebook page.
You are a wonderful human. Thank you!
Looking foward to an…unusual year!
You know it Guap!
2013 seems to be the year for ambitious blogs – I salute you & your awesome fame! I cannot wait to read your interview.
Thanks Denise! It is coming soon to a blog near you ;).
I’ll try not to feel tooooo much like a slug 🙂
Congratulations on a fantastic year! I think I can say that 2012 was YOUR year! You got FPd and all the other great stuff! Here’s hoping that 2013 will be even better 🙂
Thank you lady. I am glad you were a part of all of the excitement as my Man Huntress! You can forever say you hold the spot as my very first guest poster!
Yes I can! 😀
So glad I could be part of it
Yeah way to tease us with that new banner. And congrats on all the buzz and business going up. Your indie chicks post, interview and everything else you have going on. 2013 is going to be a big year for you apparently!
I’m just glad you will be around dude! Thanks.
Thanks for the IC Community plug and CANNOT wait for your article to go live. 😀 Get working on the next piece…whatever it may be…because our answer is always YES.
Jewels! Thank you. I am lucky to have found some real badass chicks in you, Chiara, and the whole Indie Chick team. I will certainly be brainstorming for the next piece. Thanks ma’am.
“Under construction” or “coming soon” banner?
Really, Becca? What are we, partying like it’s 1999 on the web?
I think it actually says “in the making” but eh. I happened to like the nineties.
Wait, I just re-read and saw that there is a photoshoot planned for the new banner. Carry on.
The photo shoot is actually completed. The friend of mine who shot and edited the pictures for it had to leave town for work last minute, so I am waiting on the disc. Then I can proceed.
Can’t wait to read the New’s Eve recap. I don’t remember anything from the party. As a matter of fact, I’m still hungover…
Musta been a gooood party!
Adam. You mean you don’t remember ANYTHING. Sigh…
Well, I remember the keg stand on the roof, but not much after that. Oh wait, and some hot red head chick. I don’t remember her name though…
I guess I am going to have to work on my mistletoe skills until I reach “memorable” status at least. Ha!
I sincerely hope you kick some blogosphere ass this year.
I am just as excited about this year for you as well, Tim. You’ve got it going on!
The Bloggess better look out because I think you’re going to be the next big thing. Can’t wait to see all you have in store!
And I plan on bringing y’all with me! Thanks Emily.
Becca, I’ve been following since the start– and I have loved going to FB and seeing what you have got going on over there! I’m ready for some laughter (I just need to make sure I use the potty before I read your blog— laughing really hard makes me tinkle a little, and you my friend, have made me laugh hard often!).
I have never been more proud to make someone pee themselves in my whole entire life! Thank you Cheryl, for the comment, for the support, and for being one of the original fly followers!
Danggg girl, I can always count on you to have something(s) going on! So excited for the new banner and the interview and the recap. And for all you’ll undoubtedly have to offer in 2013! (BTW, that was me, Julie Davidoski, who was just stalking your 25toFly FB page.)
I share a very similar sentiment about my blog, and about the New Year (“just keep going” was actually the theme of my New Year’s post!)!
Nothin’s stopping Becca this year, people!
Stalk away my love! I’m glad we are on the same page. And with that bacon ornament that is staying up in my apartment year round, I am definitely unstoppable. Yep, that’s happening. Plus, I am sure it will be my good luck charm of 2013! Thanks Jules.
Becca, I can’t wait to see the banner. Whatever you do, don’t u-haul it! I mean don’t use U-Haul. I know what you mean. Blogging can be very satisfying. It’s good that you’re not just running. I know when you figure it out, it will be meaningful.
That means a lot. You always say the right things. I don’t want to be running away FROM something if I leave. I want to be running TO something. Thanks!
I gotta stalk you on facebook.
I’m still paying for NYE.
These are both true statements.
Becca,
I liked your Facebook page before it was cool. That doesn’t make me a hipster, does it?
No it makes you a flyster.
Woo hoo!! Wait, that’s a good thing, right?
Obviously!
Okay. Just checking. Woohoo!!
I liked your fb page. and registered with indiechicks. That is one great place! I’m excited for you! thanks
Great Jackie! What an over achiever ;). Happy New Year if I didn’t already tell you.
thanks becca! 🙂
Love the new look, Becca and look forward to reading more…now that I have some time…right now, at least. Happy 2013 my friend!
Same to you love!
Oh I’m very curious about your new header, Becca! No doubt it’s going to be awesome.
Will be staying tuned for everything! It seems I missed an awesome party though! Also! The new IC site is awesome huh?! Those ladies are so badass.
Ps.: I already liked you on FB 🙂
Thanks ma’am. I’d love to collaborate with you this year. What do you say?
Oh absolutely! You can count me in 🙂
Great, my wheels are turning. I will be in touch!
Ohhh *watches the wheels turn* I will be waiting!
Interviews are mad fun, aren’t they? Speaking of interviews, I was wondering…have you figured out how to make mashed potatoes from scratch yet? Just wondering.
I sure haven’t Jon, but I do make some phenomenal potato salad.
That’s more impressive anyways. Potato salad is also one of my favorite dishes to make.
It is best in Gumbo!
Easy now. Let’s not get crazy here.
You should move to California. *hint*
Hint or invitation?
Hintvitation?
*Slow clap*
Now, I can say I got clap from Becca.
Slowly…
With cuddling?
Mandatory.
As a modern, liberal guy, I have to insist that it is not mandatory, it is persondatory.
Omg, best. idea. ever.
Calahan, are you too a Californian?!
I am. Bay Area. Are you?
Oooo… the San Diego area. You know, the warmer area…
I’ll be in San Marcos for a wedding in February. How close it that?
Super duper close! The restaurant I work at is only like 10/15 minutes away!
The wedding is on a Saturday, but we’re heading down Friday. Maybe we can make it work to meet up. 🙂
That would be awesome!! I’ll be in that area ’til around 5 on Friday (babysitting Friday night)
Y’all are NOT allowed to meet up without me, you hear?
Shh, Becca. We’re talking.
I’m legitimately upset right now. If you two meet, you better at least take a picture with some sort of shout out to me.
We’ll both dye our hair red. 🙂
YOU BETTER… so help me god.
You should put together a Becca Appreciation Week and see how many of us will color our hair red. I’ll totally do it!
Becca Appreciation. I like the ring of that. I am going to turn the whole world ginger.
Hooray!
Happy New Year Becca, and woohoo to version 2!
I’m sure I was at the party. Was I at a party? I was at A party. Was I? Ooooo…
Tom, you should have been there
Happy New Year!
Becca,
2.0? Bring your blog up to 3.0 right off the bat… 2.0 is so 2008, and you’re ALL about the future of blogging. – Le Clown
2.0! That is awesome. Can’t wait to read what’s in store. You’re a phenomenal blogger, and this overhaul is going to have such a positive impact on your craft! – Eric
Le Clown – it is called chronological order, and I happen to be quite fond of 2008 for your information.
Eric – I love you. Thank you.
Woohoo!! Can’t wait for all the exciting things your blog in 2013 has to offer us!! 🙂 I’m especially excited to know what happened on NYE because I don’t remember a damn thing!
It will all come out soon my dear!
