Blogger Meet Up 2013 Update!

Jen and I came to you last week with a proposal. We didn’t ask you to put a ring on it (us?), but we did ask you to hang out with us in real life. For internet people, this is almost the equivalent of committing to marriage. Luckily, you didn’t throw up, pass out, or flat-out say no. If you did, you hid it well and composed yourself before leaving a comment. This is a good sign.

Maybe if we are all wearing the shirt, this wont happen…

So what’s next you ask?

Well, Jen and I gathered up the responses and made a list of where everyone is located. At first, I felt like I was a detective solving a murder by drawing connections on a map while smoking a lot of cigarettes in the dark. Then I just felt like I was a cyber stalker. Either way, it felt right.

There seems to be a great divide in the WordPress world. Half of you (who participated) are spread out on the West coast and the other half on the East coast. There were not too many bloggers located in the middle. I was, however, pleasantly surprised to see that a few other southerners popped out from behind their fried chicken and waffles to give a thumbs up for the meet up. *waves*

Here is what we are going to ask you to do next. There are three polls below for you to cast your vote on a location that we have picked. We performed all kinds of high-tech mapping strategies, statistics, probability reports, and background checks to narrow down the choices. We assure you that the options listed are in everyone’s best interest. SO, if you are a tentative “yes” for the meet up, then cast your vote now! Just state which location you would prefer the most in the comments.

Options for West Coast:

  • San Francisco Bay Area
  • Las Vegas
  • Los Angeles/San Diego

Options for East Coast:

  • Cincinnati, OH
  • Boston, MA
  • Altlantic City, NJ
  • Charleston, WV
  • Pittsburgh, PA
  • NYC, NYC
Options for South:
  • Houston, TX
  • New Orleans, LA
  • Atlanta, GA

  1. I’m feeling a little left out guys. Really. How about a SE Asia meet up? 🙂

  2. I am casting my Atlantic City vote. Not only would it be hilarious to have us all gathered there, preferable in a nightclub, but it’s closest for me. YAY!!!

  3. LOS ANGELES/san diego 😀 Did you see what I did there? *wink wink, nudge nudge* Super excited about this. I hope we win… Oh, it’s not a contest. Interesting. Can I change my vote then?

    I vote Houston. Ahem.

  5. Sadly, funds are not in ready supply here in the Empire so Cincinnati would be the only one I could do since, you know, that’s where I live.

  6. Becca,
I always wanted to go to Austin, and California is the place you oughta be, Pittsburgh…ugh. Anyplace in the south that isn’t dry or overrun with evangelists is a good choice; especially N’orleans because I’ve never been there.
I’d even go to Pittsburgh if that is the decision because this is really the most awesome event in the history of events. You and Jen will have to wear tiaras the entire time for coming up with this. And of course you’ll never have to buy your own drinks…wait, that’s what this is about isn’t it? Free drinks for Becca and Jen. Hmmm.

  7. What a shame there weren’t that many Midwesterners. I guess the majority of us are just snowed in. You guys have fun! I’ll vote for NYC, if only because I’ve always wanted to go.

  8. I’m just gonna make a ‘hhrmpf’ sound. Share photos, peeps!

  9. Ok west coast- LA.

East coast – All of them except Boston. (Cincy would be ok) *I can drive to all of these locations.

    South- Atlanta

  10. Alright, I answered on Jen’s…but I’m going to make an addition. Cincinnati, Boston, Houston…..and….Vegas! I have a friend that lives there.

  11. My vote is for Seattle, because then I could be lazy and still make it.

  12. Awww what a pawesome idea! Wish I could come! You’re all welcome chez moi in Europe if you’re ever visiting! =^.^=

  13. My vote goes to NYC or Las Vegas – probably Vegas – but I’m not coming.

  14. Oki doki dollface, I’m goin’ L.A., Atlantic City, or The ATL. Hmmmmm?

  15. I feel kind of bad voting because I’m not even sure if I could come since I am the indentured servant of a baby, but in a perfect world it would be in Atlanta or NYC.

  16. I’m still planning on faxing my photograph, Becca. I don’t even know if I could do a meet-up in the UK, if you planned one for over here, that is. You’re getting very organised for this though… I’m impressed! 😉

    • Thanks Tom. Jen and I are determined women! There are quite a few of you over there. Maybe someone should take the reigns and tackle the Blogger Summit .. UK Edition!

  17. I guess mine was the only vote for Sydney Australia then… oh well. I’d better start buying lotto tickets, or part with an unnecessary organ. Can you donate your gall bladder?

  18. Am I the only Brit on your blog? Or are all the other Brits just keeping their heads down in this?

  19. I think the two that jump out at me are El Salvador and Humptulips, Calif….. *scrolling back, scrolling back* … Whoops, sorry — wrong blog. I thought this was the Fetish meet-up. I’d say either Las Vegas (cheap flights and I’ve never been there) or San Francisco Bay area (Rice-a-Roni and I’ve never been there sober before). Keep me in the loop with how to help with the t-shirts, and where I need to send my image should I have to attend by proxy!

  20. San Francisco is a hop, skip and jump, so that would be easiest! I have family in San Diego, that would be easy too. But if it’s done well enough in advance, a plane ride is doable. I’m impressed with you guys. Best of luck in planning.

  21. Oh crap! Didn’t see that post…. no one voted for Detroit or Chicago? (JK, I know NO ONE would’ve voted for Detroit…)

  22. If West Coast: San Fran, if East: NYC, if South, New Orleans. But really anywhere. Mark me down for everywhere – I can always couchsurf 😉 haha

  23. While I dislike Vegas to no end, Rich is right in that the flights are the cheapest. Somewhere in the middle seems to be the most fair. While NY might be a blast, it seems like hotels in NYC will be $$$$.

  24. NYC or Atlantic City. It depends how much money I have at the time. Who am I kidding, I won’t have any money.

  25. Becca,

I’m just not ready to meet you…..even though I know you aren’t really red.

    • How is your plan coming along?

    • I’m at the ‘I despise myself stage’ it took a few months to get past this back in my 20s……something tells me it will be worse with age. I do expect things to be settled decently by next fall though, if you are still in Louisiana and I am in Miami, the logistics for our date should be pretty straight forward.

  26. Personally I feel something in the middle would be nice compromise, well that’s what I told me dates in the past and they came to agree after dinner was paid for. Because of a medical condition flying cross continent can fuck me up. I would say Houston or N’Orleans.
If however everyone votes on or agree on NCY I would be happy to help with the setting it up because I live here etc

  27. Becca,
Boston, even if it means running into Bruins’ fans.
    Le Clown

  28. i think the way it works is to pick one city from each list, so that’s what i’m going to do. and if i’m wrong, i know the chances are very slim that i’ll get smacked for it. and even if i do get smacked for it undeservingly, i’m sure there’s something else i deserved to have been smacked. for. which. smacken. will have smacken.

west – vegas, only because flights are cheaper and so am i. i mean morally.

south – home of the crawtaters

    east – AC

  29. New Orleans.

Thanks for handling. Again I say great idea.

  30. Vegas, Atlantic City, or New Orleans! What can I say, I like to gamble.

    • NOLA FTW! I like to gamble too. Well, I like to sit at the video poker machines. When I get on the actual tables I just end up pissing everyone off, because I don’t know what I am doing. It’s like all that oxygen gives me brain damage or something.

  31. Bay area. Bay area is great.

  32. It’s really cool that y’all are organizing this. Gotta vote for Houston, although Austin is my personal choice for best city in Texas for a blogger meet up. I’d like to own that shirt even if I can’t make it.

  33. I’m not sure if there were polls for voting here and they’re just not coming through on my computer? So cool you’re doing this – depending on the timing and location, I’d definitely be game!

  34. SF, WV or GA.
(I’m in nyc and have seen the city already.)

Is there a tentative date for this yet?

  35. I am in England and i am hurt

  36. I’m in the South and I vote for Houston. So there.
