Goodbye 25toFly

I’ve almost been blogging for two years now, and as the New Year approaches swiftly I find myself in reflection. When I began blogging, I had no idea that a widget wasn’t a term coined for a midget whale. I certainly didn’t know a thing about YouTube, Twitter, or domain mapping.

When I began this blog I planned to write about travel, inspiration, blah blah blah. It quickly turned into a humorous space, which is true to the behavior of a Becca in the wild. Then I got my hands on a real internet connection and a new webcam and it was all over. BeccaTube was born, and many sleepless nights I geeked out splicing videos like I was splitting atoms in a lab.

Where I have come with my blog, my video, my projects, my relationships, it has all been a wonderful experience that was squished into two short years. I still feel like I am barely 23 years old, discovering the outlet of blogging every time I log on, all the while knowing my blogging brain is pushing thirty.

And for this reason, I am saying goodbye to 25toFly.

You see, I grew over the past two years. I learned, I experimented, I took chances. What I didn’t do, was strategically plot my domain name with consideration of that growth and the potential of the future. I also didn’t foresee the nausea that would be caused by the heavy cheese in my title. At least it was whimsical and endearing to believe I’d stay 25 forever, right? So yes, I am saying goodbye to 25toFly the name but not the blog.

The new face of 25tofly,, will be a bit more sophisticated, a bit more mature, but not a lot of business. Think less shooting Jim Beam and writing on bathroom stalls and more sipping Jameson on the rocks while discussing the intelligence of cats. But don’t worry, we will all still end up stuffing our faces at Waffle House in between giggles at the end of night.

I’m still playing around with the banner and a few other aesthetics, so stay tuned Flysters!

Check out my latest video on BeccaTube where I am also making changes and learning to use my new software.   ———————————————————————————->>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  1. This is weird. Now I feel like I’m in the phase of “inspiring blah blah blah” and someone just told me my future. I will not pay for the session!

  2. Ooo I love it. How terribly mature *snicker* and grown up *giggle*

  3. I started the same way. On a whim created a blog and just started hitting the keyboard.

I am really looking forward to booting this year out and doing some expanding myself. A great big world out there!

    Have a great new year!

    • Great! When it’s time, it’s time. You should let me know when you make the changes! I’d like to check it out. I think a lot of bloggers start out the way we did. “I think I’ll make a blog page today” and bam. Then we get all sophisticated and realize we had no idea what we were doing. Or it feels that way anyway! Thanks Steve. Happy New Year to you!

  4. Adventures in Kevin's World

Can we still laugh? Because you made me laugh quite often……..

  5. Huzzah, I’m all for dramatic sweeping changes! So, what’s the thought behind the blog name, eh?

  6. It still means something… you ‘flew’ at 25, right? But good luck with the change! Change is good, especially when it’s well-thought-out.

  7. Oh I’m so glad cats will feature! Love the new name! =^.^=

  8. Love it! And I promise not to be a stranger. That’s my goal for 2014, to actually visit my WP friends and use the Internet for something other than losing my mind blogging and staring at hilarious cats. Damn those cats.

  9. Wonderful. I too started out not knowing what the heck I was doing….just kind of took a blind jump in an attempt to share my stories. Now, with 2014 approaching, I get it. My blog is due to get a serious revamp here in the beginning of January and my writing, I plan to take it deeper.

Congrats to you! I will have to check out your youtube.

  10. This all sounds very exciting. I am looking forward to seeing where we go in 2014.

  11. Well I have enjoyed a couple of videos. Yay! Good for you. Look forward to your new look and content. 🙂

    • Thank you! The latest video wasn’t too entertaining, more of documentation of a my technological upgrade journey regarding the video stuff. I can’t believe how far things have come from that first video announcing the Bloggers for Movember winners back in 2012. Lord!

  12. Becca,
Discovering you aren’t a Redhead a while back was a tremendous relief (I have a horrible susceptibility to Redheads). Now I’m wondering if you are trying to completely drive me away…….what about our lunch date?

  13. Weeeeeeeeeeeeee! Excited!

  14. Not too concerned with what you call it…just as long as it sticks around. Looking forward to 2014!

  15. Best of luck running in a new direction. I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out!

  16. Yay for you! I’m mostly looking forward to the waffles, though. 😉

  17. Becca 2.0?
    Good luck, young lady!

  18. I’ve blogged for over 3 years and still know nothing about domain mapping.
Good luck with your new blog – do we still remain signed up, or do we need to follow you there as well?

  19. Growth is good.

  20. Yay, Becca!! You can always be 25 in mind and in spirit. I love the new name. Much continued success to you!

  21. Proud of your work! Keep it sharp!

  22. We all must evolve if we wish to spread our wings and fly!

  23. Hey, good luck with the transformation! changes are always good.

  24. This should be interesting. Growing and changing is a good thing.

    • I like to think so. Admittedly, part of the reason it has taken so long to evolve my blog name was due to fear of changing it. But fear can take a hike. Thanks Jackie!

  25. Woohoo! As always, you know I’m following you on your adventure. Wish you lots of luck and fun!

  26. Becca,
I for one am looking forward to that new venture.
    Continuous success, mon amie.
