Why Am I Here?

becca cord I am a twenty-something year old Louisiana ballerina turned writer/blogger/marketer/vlogger/editor. While I graduated college with a degree in Business, my first job post graduation had little to do with Marketing and was not particularly challenging. And I was bored. Enter drunk head stands blogging.

Up until the moment I began this blog, I was a follower. I followed what I was told would make me “successful” as opposed to taking the time to figure out what my definition of success was.

25toFly was created in my attempt to enjoy a creative outlet, become a stronger writer, market myself, network, show off my long john collection, and most importantly, make people laugh. My goal was not to limit myself. No holding back. And that is what I did.

So what now that 25tofly is notaredhead.com? Well, I plan to keep doing what I have always done, just with a cooler name. I will continue to grow my readership, my viewership, and continue to collaborate with incredibly talented people. Between being the co-organizer of the first ever Blogger Interactive meet up this year in Austin, TX, working with brilliant minds to market their creations to the perfect online audience, and writing for a local Magazine, I think it is safe to say that I am officially in flight. So expect the in-flight entertainment to continue. Expect it to be the best it’s ever been. I’ll even throw in a free cocktail.

THANK you for reading. THANK you for your support. Y’all are just outstanding.

  1. I’m not even sure how I got here, but you are one entertaining chica. Love the vlog posts as well. Keep ’em coming………..

  2. Found you via The Hook, can’t wait to read your work!!!

  3. Good for you! 🙂 This is a fantastic about me. I look forward to reading the rest of your blog.

    • Thanks C.L. and sorry about the late response. Sometimes the About page comments get a little lost in the clutter. But I am glad you enjoy (or enjoyed) my blog and About page! Hope you are still around.

  4. Charlotte Hayes

Your story is so inspirational – I just started blogging a few months ago and have recently been SUPER into it! It’s a great thing to get really involved in. Looking forward to reading more 🙂

    <3, Charlotte

    • WOW has it been a while since I have read the comments on my About page! Nice to see you enjoy (or enjoyed) my blog Charlotte! Thanks for reading. I hope to see you around more often :). Also, hope your blog is still kickin’!

  5. Becca are you really in Michigan??? Are you with Adam? OMFG I’m going to cry. Girl, we need to chat. I won’t be going to the meet up in October because, well, it’s a long sad tale. Maybe someday I’ll share it with you. Or, maybe you already know it.

I’m sorry I haven’t read you in forever. My blog continues to grow. Why, I have no clue. Seems that people like what this dumb blonde has to say. Plus, my short stories are getting better.

Kisses and hugs from a ridiculous blonde,

    • Renee…………………………………….

      YES! And yes!

I arrived two days ago and am getting all settled in, learning my Michigan lefts, and trying not to say y’all too much and give away my southern roots. 🙂

Sorry to hear you won’t be making it to the meet up, but trust me, there will be PLENTY more. Maybe we will even organize our own mini meet up here in the mitten (I am learning fast, see!). 😉

      • I’m so glad you’re here honey. Ah love, it is a wonderful thing!!!!!! Come to Ann Arbor soon and we’ll share a laugh or two. We’ll look for Fairy Doors and even shop at Cherry Republic (they sell everything Michigan).

The Mitten is a great place to live, in the spring and summer. Gimme a beach in the winter. PLEASE!

  6. Awesome blog, Becca. I like it and shit.

  7. I like oxygen, but I have since learned that it’s, in fact, bad for you. It causes death!!

  8. Well, if I had a dollar for every twenty-something year old southern ballerina turned business student that I met, I’d be billionaire, and then we’d just see about that men’s long johns comment of yours. Where have you been all my life Becca? We’re both here now, so let’s have some fun and make a little noise. Looking forward to more of those videos and reading some of your stuff….

    • Although all of these things are true facts about me, Becca, Becster, Bec, or Bex… you have inspired me to update my About page here in the near future. The long john parts stay, don’t sweat.

This is going to be fun. I’m off to grab my vuvuzela. Weeeee!

      • Well, I was only teasing, so don’t get your long johns in a bunch. I’ve actually never met a twenty-something year old southern ballerina turned business student. It was a bad joke. Don’t worry, I tell a lot of them. You kinda get used to them, and just sorta nod your head. I don’t know how the emoticon looks for nodding your head :0 Maybe that’s it. See, another bad joke. Well, I don’t know what a vuvuzela is, so I’m gonna go Google it. But yeah, we’re gonna have some fun BecSTAR (Get it? Because you play drums – like a rock star.) It’s another bad joke, and I like to always end it on a bad joke, so goodbye.

  9. hi, your funny, i am going to like this, i have decided that success and a lot of other things that i thought i had to have are kind of optional now so I know i need my higher power and beyond that well anything really can be taken away besides God if you think about it. I know sounds kinda crazy but Mozart was crazy and all the sane people like his music!!! Enstein was crazy, Van Gogh did alot of his painting in a nut house……lol anyway more power to ya…Peace

  10. Rohan 7 Things

Hey Becca! I found you through The Hook 🙂 Looking forward to keeping up with your posts!

    Keep well!

    • Rohan, I have lurked around your site before. It is pretty spiffy as well! Glad to have you here, of course. Hope you enjoy your stay 🙂

      • Rohan 7 Things

So that was YOU lurking huh! And you thought I wouldn’t notice! Hehe, thanks for stopping by 🙂 I know I’ll be back.

        Take care!

  11. Hi Becca! I wanted to let you know that I’ve nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award! You can check it out along with other info here if you wish: http://wp.me/p30cnC-6h
    Happy writing!

    • I am just now seeing this for some reason or another. Thank you so much! It always makes my day to see that someone enjoys reading here enough to link back through an award. Keep at it ma’am and thanks again!

  12. Love it. Can’t wait to hear how things go!

  13. You got a green KCCO Shirt? So jealous! Have you ever gotten on?

    • I got on the thread they do at the end of the week called “There are Chivettes Among Us” or something like that. I wouldn’t send in anything sexy though. Just a simple smile in my Chive shirt.

I also really like my Halloween edition glow in the dark Chive shirt. You have to be quick!

  14. Hey, you, rapper girl. You may not do awards, but you’re on my list for The Super Sweet Blog Award.

  15. You’re a southern belle huh? I’ve never been to Loosyana but I’d love to visit sometime. You don’t sing in front of people? I ONLY sing in front of people. (and they’re like stoppppp)

  16. Loved your interview on BroJon’s blog. I then had to read as many of your posts as I could. I am much jealous of your funnies. You seem awesome.

  17. Hey Becca! I stumbled across your blog via Maddie Cochere and David Harding. Interesting blog you have here. You play drums? I can play air-drums really well. No-one’s ever heard me miss a beat!
Looking forward to more fun! 😉

  18. simonsundarajkeun

Great Blog and I enjoyed the postings! 🙂

  19. I’m a (female) drummer as well! And we’re probably about the same age. If you ever need any help or support, let me know! (Believe it or not, my unicorn hooves actually make it easier to play–I just can’t hold sticks)

  20. Dear Becca,

Awesome blog! You succeeded in making me laugh, so I must say your calling fits you nicely. Love how the word “Ninjas” appears on your blog (I hope others appreciate it as much as I do). Ever since a customer at work said “Oh my god! You’re like a ninja!” to me when I refilled his water glass without him knowing, I’ve felt that maybe I was all “stealth-like” and should probably go around making my own theme music while sneaking around like Kronk does in The Emperor’s New Groove. Although, that may be very un-ninja like.

    But, I digress.

Very cool blog and I’m happy to have had the change to visit. As Arnold Schwarzenegger once said (and yes, I had to look up his name to make sure I was spelling it right):

    I’ll be back!

    Good Morning, Joe

    • Marie, being deemed ninja-like is the second best honor to having la or le in front of your name. You are actually the first to mention the ninja count! Awesome.

So glad you enjoy my humor and will be sticking around (I would have had to Google the spelling of Arnold’s name too, no sweat). I plan to visit you as well. Thanks Marie!

  21. Every girl should have a hard hat.

  22. Becca, I’ve nominated you for the Liebster award. You can check it out on my blog.
I don’t know how to add links to comments so you’re going to have to do the whole copy/paste thing

  23. Yeah. We should probably be friends for realz.

  24. Hi Becca,
Love your blog. Funny, great writing – beautiful!

Thanks for sharing and I look forward to reading more!

  25. it’s always nice to see a gal with a rich sense of humor 🙂 cheers!

  26. Hey..Nice Blog! Stumbled upon it from somewhere I don’t remember and I really like it 🙂

  27. “If someone offered me 1 billion dollars, or the freedom to wear men’s long johns everywhere I go, I would take the long johns. You need to know this.”
You really do like long johns, don’t you, Becca?
    Fortunately, on you, they work!

  28. Got directed here via Le Clown. Grateful to him. Loving your writing and your humour. Am a follower now.

  29. Hi Becca. I’ve come to you by way of Le Clown. It was a great surprise today to be put on his blogroll. I feel I’m in very good company. It’s great to finally meet you as I’ve seen you over there. I was a ballerina, too…once. Cheers!

  30. Wickedly entertaining! I’m a fan!

  31. Ah, we of the kindred spirit. It took me a bit longer to get antsy and restless in my “career,” but I *did* escape my home state at an earlier age. Glad to meet others on this hell-bent journey, and love reading your stuff. Because you’re funny and shit. 😀 But tell me, are you taking on NaNoWriMo this year?

    • That’s so cool. Meeting new people is one of the best things ever. Thanks for the compliment, I really love to make people laugh… even if it is silently and through a computer screen.

      NaNo-whata? Inform me…

      • National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write a complete 50,000 word manuscript during the month of November. I tied last year and bombed big time. So, I’m trying again because…. I like pain? I find it’s better when I don’t analyze my own reasoning too much.

        • You are SO brave. I felt stressed just reading your comment. I don’t think this year will be possible for me to take on such a task, but thanks for informing me. I will certainly need a full year’s worth of mental preparation if I am going to take on such a behemoth in the future! Good luck to you though… I will be expecting updates :).

          • contrarybaroness

Since I’ll have 0 blogging time while doing it, I think I’m just going to post random excerpts. Whatever NaNoWriMo work I did on the day I’d normally post, that’s what’ll get posted. Because “random” and “unhinged” are descriptors I’m aiming for when it comes to my online persona.

          • Haha! I think you should!

  32. Hey thanks for visiting Moment Matters. You’re pretty cool!

  33. Loving your blog and your humor! I’m following.

  34. “Writing, because I like that shit.” Well said.

  35. Lovely to meet you, Becca! Great blog you have here. 🙂 I look forward to more posts.

  36. Becca,
    You had me at “shit”.
    Le Clown

  37. nice about page, I try to write funny too, but I guess my best material is released in the flesh [I’ll still try though] cool blog 🙂

  38. Thanks for following my admittedly quirky travel blog. I hope you find it a fun read. I enjoy your blog as well.

  39. Hi Becca.Love ur blog.

  40. That is quite strange that you nominated me for the same award I was going to nominate you for. I wrote my blog up last night and have it set to publish at 11:00AM pacific time today. So you have been nominated as well…It just won’t show up until 11.

  41. Good Luck In Thy Quest My Friend…

  42. Madison Woods

Bonjour! Como sa vas? (Not sure how to spell that, but there’s my phonetic rendition, lol). I was raised in s. LA and the biggest thing I miss since moving away is the food. There is just no substitute and nowhere to buy ingredients even. Otherwise, it is so nice to be able to sit on my porch at night and listen to the creek wandering downhill and not have to swat so many mosquitoes or mop beads of sweat.

Thanks for following my blog and i hope to see you around. Since you enjoy writing, you might enjoy our Friday Fictioneers fun. We also have a new FB page if you’re on FB: http://facebook.com/FridayFictioneers.

    • Salut! So nice to see another southerner around WordPress :). I found your blog from checking out Rich’s Friday Fiction post. I keep itching to try it out! How long did you live in LA, and where do you live now (if you don’t mind me asking)? I absolutely love LA, but I have to experience something different. I started my blog to keep me busy/ track my success in reaching that goal. I will certainly miss the food, especially crawfish. I suppose when I finally venture out in the world I will have to bring a gargantuan supply of Tony’s along with me. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I look forward to maybe trying to participate in the fiction fun at some point.

      • Madison Woods

Haha, yes, I’m out of Tony’s now and missing it badly, LOL. And although a few people out here DO make crawfish runs and come back up here to boil them… eeewww. Not the same. Whenever I go home or anyone else comes up I always try to send a grocery list – sausage, coffee, and crawfish are the most wanted items. I lived between New Orleans and Baton Rouge from 1971-2005. That’s where my family all still live. My maiden name is ‘Templet’ and I figure you’ll know how it’s pronounced 😉 Now I live in NW AR and I really do love it but where I’d really like to live is out west up in the Rockies. Good to meet you!
