Bloggers for Movember Gets Help From Dollar Shave Club

Hi all you Mo Bros and Mo Sistas. I’d like to say I am proud of all of you Flysters for getting involved with the campaign this year. I’ve gotten a flood of messages, post links, tweets, retweets, contest ideas, and mustache rides glorious mustache photos this week. Keep it up and keep it growin’!

I’ve been looking forward to posting this update all week as well. Why, you ask? To get you acquainted with our latest Bloggers for Movember supporters, Dollar Shave Club. Before you get to the juicy details,  watch this piece of viral video gold straight from the company itself, so you can understand how badass these people are.

Chances are, you are one of the 12 million something people who have viewed this commercial before. I know I had seen it before (and adored it) when a representative of DSC contacted me about a collaborative effort for Movember. That’s right, DSC wants to help the Bloggers for Movember team blow up our donations page. In a good way.

The Scoop:

For every BFM supporter who registers with the Dollar Shave Club, the company will donate $10 to our official Movember page. You don’t have to be registered as a team member on the BFM page, nor do you have to donate directly to the team to take advantage of this opportunity to help. Registration with the Dollar Shave Club using a special code is your contribution! It’s kind of like donating one dollar that magically grows into a big, fat ten. Actually, it’s exactly like that. Plus, you won’t have to worry about forgetting your razors at the store come the beginning of December. Just don’t start lathering yet!

Instructions for registering with Dollar Shave Club for Bloggers for Movember:

1. Go to www.dollarshaveclub.com

2. Click register, select your razors, and enter your information

3. Enter the pro-MO code MOVEMBER081 before you check out and complete your order

The unique pro-MO code makes sure the $10 goes specifically to the BFM team.

4. Walk around knowing how philanthropic you are.

I totally ordered a months worth of razors myself. Not for me, I don’t grow hair except for my beautiful, natural red mane. Duh. I need them to shave Jack’s back. So there you have it. Yet another way (see other contests below) to support Bloggers for Movember. You even get something outstanding and useful in return, so I don’t want to  hear any excuses. Mo on!

25toFly 2.0

2013 banner

Hello and welcome to 25toFly version 2.0. It is finally 2013, which not only marks a new year for clean slates but also my second year in blogging. It also marks the year in which I originally planned to move away from Louisiana. Thinking back upon the birth of my blog, I started to realize how much it has evolved over my first year. What began as an inspirational blog about moving away, quickly became a humor blog on everything from travel and frogs to the sexual encounters of my dear friend Mr. OB.

How I have evolved has also changed over the course of that year. My goals are different. I am different. What I concluded from all of this was that writing this blog was what I needed more than a uHaul. I just didn’t know it at first. I don’t know where I will end up by this time next year. I haven’t ruled out a move, but the urgency for moving away that I felt at the beginning of 2012 has subsided. Just like the many blog posts here that began without the slightest idea or outline, I know I will figure it outAnd it will be good. Just keep doing.

Now that my blogging induced awakening has been shared, I can get back to what I have come to love to do here: write stuff that I think is funny and hope you think it is funny too. Here are some updates for the new year. Read the rest of this entry

Polls Are Not For Strippers

Movember is coasting along nicely as we approach the half way mark. Wait, what? November is almost half way over already? I suppose time flies when you’re saving balls. Everyone needs to go read the latest Movember update by Madame Weebles. If you have registered for the US Bloggers for Movember team and haven’t made your donation yet to try your luck at winning a spot on my banner, you only have a few weeks left to do so. Do I need to light a fire under your ass? You know that’s how Le Clown got his blog name, right?

I’d also like to suggest that y’all read Jason’s Movember post. Although he may end up with a serious case of blue balls by the end of the month, at least he will have healthy blue balls. Now that’s sacrifice.

Poor Jason

On a third note, I am starting to get jealous of all the budding mustaches the guys are showing off. I am ready to get my fake mustache on. My sophisticated drumstache was featured in Open Concept’s music video inspired by Movember, but now it is time for the official 25tofly Movember ‘stache. But of what shall my mouth wreath be constructed?  I want you to decide.

Please vote in the poll below to seal my mustache fate. You can vote up until this Saturday, November 17th at midnight. Come Sunday, I will prepare the winning mustache and commence the camera phone action. Then on Monday, I will post the photo of my sexiest mustache face on the Bloggers for Movember Facebook page. Choose wisely, or tell me your own idea.

Also, please stay tuned Friday for my own version of “Faddah Friday” inspired by none other than Brother Jon.

US Movember Team Contest Announcement

Have you read the official Movember launch post by Le Clown yet? Go do that immediately before I give you an internet wedgie. Now that you have read the rules regarding donations, it’s time for you Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to help the US Bloggers for Movember team raise mo’ money than every team that ever existed ever. Maybe that’s not possible, but we can try. Here is how it will work:

Pay your ten cents. You know you want one.

What you will do: Go to the US Bloggers for Movember team page, register to be a team member, and make a donation. Remember, one cent counts just as much as one hundred cents, because fuck cancer! The process is so easy my long johns could do it. Unless you are my mom.
What I will do: At the end of Movember, I will enter the names of everyone who contributed to the team into a drawing. Although I may call y’all losers as a term of endearment, there will be four lucky winners chosen.
NOTE: Donations without registering for the team are MORE than welcome if you don’t care to participate in the drawing but still want to contribute.

The prize: I flirted with Tim over at SecondLunch until he agreed to illustrate a new banner for my blog. The banner will be an illustration of me and the lucky four winning bloggers doing something spiffy (with mustaches of course). Other details of the banner are a secret, but I assure you, you will want to be on it. You already know this if you are familiar with Tim’s work (I mean, who isn’t?). The winners’ blog names will be visible on the banner which I will keep up until January, and I will add a page link at the top of my blog showcasing the winners (letting their blogs forever live in infamy on 25tofly). Be on the look out for the banner teaser coming soon.

NOTE: If you “Like” the Bloggers for Movember Facebook page your name will be entered twice in the drawing for the banner position. Just be sure to send me a message or e-mail letting me know you did both so that I don’t miss it.

NOTE #102,937,821: Be sure to leave your blog link in a message with your donation or somewhere on your team member page so I can check you out.

Ready set Mo!
